Kimie Muroya / 室屋季美恵 (she/her) is a Philadelphia-based theatre performer who has worked with numerous local and regional theatre companies, such as Philadelphia Artists' Collective, InterAct Theatre Company, Theatre Exile, Shakespeare in Clark Park, Quintessence Theatre Group, Delaware Shakespeare, and Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble.
Since the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Kimie has participated in several virtual online productions, performing two sonnets (Sonnet 67 and Sonnet 103) for Delaware Shakespeare's Sonnet Project, two new play readings for the 2020 Hollins Playwrights Festival, a sonnet adaptation for Revolution Shakespeare's 154 Revisited, performing in the short play Marks & Lennon for Going Viral Festival, performing for Artists In Place's Sunday Funday Variety Show, and originating the role of Zarya in As I Was, Not As I Am for Elephant Room Productions.
Keep an eye out for Kimie's upcoming feature film debut, playing a leading role in Antarctica, a new film by Keith Bearden! Antarctica will be premiering in late fall of 2020.
An advocate for diversity on the stage, she is one of the founding members of Philadelphia Asian Performing Artists (PAPA), a group that focuses on making known the work and presence of Asian theatrical artists in the Philadelphia area.
